It's never a bad time to learn a new way to grow your business and provide added value to your clients. Canva is an online creative tool that allows non-designers to create compelling, on-brand graphics for their businesses including social media graphics, pdf downloads, event graphics, animated gifs, flyers, and more. Canva comes with a lot of premade templates, however, it is also easy to create custom and unique graphics for your clients.
This interactive workshop will share thoughts around why creatives should consider adding Canva to their designer toolbelt along with a tutorial to show you the basics of using Canva. We will also have a "working" session that will allow participants to recreate a small project that they have on hand so they can experience it and ask questions while trying it out.
More details will be provided when you register.
Curious about how you can incorporate Canva into your business offerings? Not a designer but interested in learning more about Canva and how to use it? Join us. This event will be informative and fun!
LeAnna Weller Smith, Spark Board Member, and Owner and Executive Creative Director of Weller Smith Design will be leading this workshop. LeAnna has been using Canva since its inception and has learned many tips along the way to create beautiful, custom graphics for her clients. She also created a series of Canva tutorials for Hautestock, you can take a peek here.
Details upon signing up:
If you would like to participate in the work session, you will need to at least have the free version of Canva, you can sign up here (full disclosure, this is a referral link, but you can opt for the free version).
For the working session, come with a small product in mind. This could be a postcard, social media template, or 1-pager PDF that you created for another client. The goal is to try to recreate it in Canva. Noting too complex to start, keep it simple.
We will also need all of the artwork used in the sample you will be recreating, so be sure to have your artwork close at hand, and if you use vector graphics in your sample, please convert them to png files before the session.
As a side note, the paid version of Canva allows you to upload custom fonts, etc. For this session, we will be using the free version, so you may not be able to find the "exact" typeface used in your layouts, but there are plenty of fonts included in the free version to help you see the possibilities.
Here is a sample of a series of podcast templates we created in Canva, we will share several other samples in the workshop as well.
