Ever consider using your design prowess to create your own line of products? Then you won't want to miss this evening and conversation with Best Made Company in their TriBeCa headquarters to discuss product design, entrepreneurship, and all things outdoors. When we first interviewed Peter Buchanan-Smith, he was running a successful design studio and just founding Best Made Company. In 2009, the inspiration was drawn from what Peter saw as a need for a better axe: an evocative tool that played an indispensable role in his life working on cattle farms and paddling and portaging the lakes of Northern Canada. Today, Best Made Company has a sizable line-up of products that include wearable goods and accessories, bags, and supplies for the camp and home. We'll talk to Peter about how the new business has altered his lifestyle and how his perspectives on design and business have changed.

In his work as a graphic designer, Peter Buchanan-Smith has collaborated with Isaac Mizrahi, Philip Glass, and won a Grammy for an album cover for the band Wilco. From 2005 to 2008, Peter was the creative director of Paper Magazine.

Moderated by Sheri L Koetting, Co-Founder and Chief Strategist of MSLK.

Spark is proud to be a part of NYCxDesign week, New York City’s inaugural citywide event to showcase and promote design of all disciplines.
