Join us for a conversation with Jesse Reed, co-founder of Brooklyn-based design firm Order and publishing company Standards Manual. We will talk about Order's business practices, how they launched and grew the 2-year old firm, and balancing multiple businesses and revenue streams.
Originally from Ohio, Jesse previously worked at Pentagram under Michael Beirut on projects including the Hillary Clinton campaign, Saks Fifth Avenue and NYU. It was there, in the basement archives of Pentagram, that Jesse and Order co-founder Hamish Smith found a vintage copy of the NYC Transit Authority’s graphic standards manual which they reissued via Kickstarter campaign that raised over $800,000, spawning a publishing company and bookstore in Greenpoint. As Order, they specialize in brand identity with an approach that is research-based, systematic, and practical, for clients including Kickstarter, Phaidon and Floyd.
